Milwaukee Reciprocating Saw Reviews

Milwaukee Reciprocating sawWhich saw is for you?

Milwaukee is one of the original manufacturers of reciprocating saws.  They came up with the name “Sawzall” which has become somewhat of a universal name for all reciprocating saws.

I’ve always thought of Milwaukee as more of a professional tool.  I’ve used several of their tools and as far as a brand goes, I’ve always liked them.

In the corded models, Milwaukee offers the 6519 (12 amp) which is good enough to cut anything and the 6538 (15 amp) which is good enough to cut anything twice and then probably twice again.  Wood, metal, cement block, about anything can be cut with this saw.

If you think you’ll be cutting in confined spaces, the 6523-21 has a rotating handle.  This will help you flush cut or cut from either above or below.

There is a reason you see so many of these saws on work sites.

These saws are designed for professionals, but if you’re a weekend DIY’er this tool will last long enough that you’ll probably be able to give it to your grandkids one day.

The Milwaukee cordless models are very good, as well.  They feature a variable speed control.  Most really good corded saws will have this feature, but it’s not as common on cordless saws.

Another very unique feature here is that there is a battery charge indicator.  Very helpful to be able to know if you need to change a battery before you start cutting, than after.

This saw can be sold with our without batteries.  Make sure you know what which style you are getting.

But overall it does what it’s supposed to do, which is cut very well.  I can’t imagine not being happy with any of the Milwaukee saws.  It’s just up to you to decide of you prefer a corded or cordless saw.

Concerns

I suspect if you are interested in the corded models, you are transporting them to different locations in the storage case.  Although I think this is minor, the case does not have a lot of room for extra blades or other storage.  Decide if this is important to you.

On the cordless model, if you already have other Milwaukee cordless tools and are planning on buying the saw without the battery, make sure your existing battery will fit.  You would think that all their batteries would be interchangeable, but they are not.

Conclusion

Milwaukee like all major tool manufacturers makes a wide quality range of tools.  You can usually find the lower quality tools at Home Depot or Lowes.

However, the saws I have mentioned above are at the top end of their quality and I think worth the few extra dollars even if you’re doing infrequent or light cutting.
